Botox Q & A

What is Botox?

Botox is the first and only FDA-approved treatment to temporarily make moderate-to-severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines look better in adults. With BOTOX Cosmetic injections at Ada Aesthetics Medispa, you look like you — only with less noticeable lines. And injections only take 10 minutes and require very little, if any, downtime.

How does Botox work?

Botox works by addressing the underlying cause of wrinkle formation. Every time you smile or frown, the muscles responsible for the expression cause your skin to fold.

As you get older, your skin produces less collagen, which is a structural protein that makes your skin strong and resilient. With less collagen, your skin isn’t able to smooth itself out after you make a facial expression, resulting in the fine lines and creases.

When injected into very precise areas of your skin, Botox temporarily halts movement of the muscle that causes the skin to fold, without affecting your ability to express yourself. Over time, your skin relaxes and your lines and wrinkles diminish in appearance.

Do Botox injections hurt?

You may feel a slight pinch during your BOTOX Cosmetic injection. However, most patients tolerate the injections with little discomfort. The needles used for your injections are tiny and only a small amount of the medication is needed to get the desired results.

If you’re sensitive to pain, be sure to let the team at Ada Aesthetics Medispa know so they can adjust your treatment plan.

You may experience some skin redness at the site of your injections, but you can cover any of these side effects with makeup. You may be able to resume most of your activities following your treatment, however the team recommends you wait at least two hours before engaging in any strenuous activity.

You should notice an improvement in your look within one to two days after your injections.

How long does Botox last?

With BOTOX Cosmetic, your skin should remain smooth for three to four months. As soon as you notice your lines and wrinkles returning, the specialists at Ada Aesthetics Medispa recommend you return to the office for another round of injections so you can maintain your youthful look.

Botox is simple, quick, and effective. To schedule your injections, contact Ada Aesthetics Medispa by phone or online today.
